The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Chelsea and Adam talk about the hit piece that they released on Cane Ashby. They mention that they dug up dirt on Colin and they need to be prepared for a counter-attack.
Chelsea agrees they need to stay on high alert. She wonders if Cane or Lily told their kids the truth before the news hit.
Adam shrugs. They had plenty of time! Is Chelsea feeling guilty about it?
Chelsea says she’s not feeling guilty about Cane. He’s probably figuring out how to retaliate against them!
Adam hopes Cane will reveal his cards soon because he doesn’t agree with Victor’s strategy. Cane will never trust his father.
Chelsea isn’t sure… Cane would probably want to be an ally to Victor instead of being an enemy.
Adam thinks she might be onto something there.
Chelsea thinks Victor could actually be their ace in the hole.
Adam laughs and says Chelsea seems to be enjoying this strategic warfare. She’s amazing him yet again! He says she’s energized by the conflict and ready to dig in!
Chelsea laughs and says she has skills from her “grifting” days that can come in handy.
Adam’s happy she’s on their team.
Chelsea considers herself a part of the Newman family now, so any attack on the Newmans is an attack on her! She’ll do whatever she can to neutralize Cane! They laugh and toast to the idea. She asks how they’ll become Cane’s “allies.”
Adam says he’s not on board with that idea and has plans of his own… And his plan might be just what they need to win this war! He’ll hit them from a different angle!
Chancellor Park Overlook
Billy and Sally jog into the park, out of breath.
Sally tells Billy she’s got the perfect prize for him… She’s throwing a launch party next week, and he’s her date!
Billy wonders if Abbott Communications is ready to open for business.
Sally grins. If she runs into any problems, she’ll just use her secret weapon!
Billy laughs and wonders what her secret weapon is.
Sally says it’s Audra Charles.
Billy asks what happened to Vibrante… Why’s Audra come to Sally’s side? Can they trust her?
Sally says Audra decided that being in business with Victor wasn’t a good idea, and Audra is very trustworthy.
Billy grins. Abbott Communications is about to become a reality! Her focus on Abbott Communications will allow him to focus on regaining Chancellor.
Sally thinks it’s exciting, and she’s sure Adam’s smear tactics are the first of many… She’ll do whatever she can to undo the damage and will make sure the world knows that Billy is a founding genius. She wonders if Billy is willing to fight both Cane and the Newmans… How will he make it out unscathed?
Billy knows she’s worried about him, but he knows that this is the right thing for him to do, and he’s confident he’ll be able to get Chancellor from the Newmans. He has his own secret weapon, and Victor and Cane will lose.
Sally sighs. She feels strange running a company with Billy’s name on it when he’s not even involved.
Billy asks if she’d prefer Spectra Communications.
Sally thinks that sounds pretty good, but she was joking in the first place. She says that it’s still Jack’s money and Billy will be overseeing it, too. She’s worried she’ll let Billy or Jack down.
Billy knows she’ll be spectacular. They kiss.
Society
Holden tells Daniel, Tessa, and Claire that he was a contestant on a dating show… Until he realized that he had dated one of the producers of the show! He’d ghosted her after the first date, and that was the end of his budding reality-star career!
Daniel advises him not to share that story with prospective romantic partners… They might not find it “impressive.”
Holden laughs and says the right woman might come along and admire him for his honesty and how much he’s learned from his mistakes.
Claire laughs along. “I can see that!”
Audra and Nate walk into the restaurant and raise their eyebrows at Claire and the gang.
Holden notices Claire’s look at Audra and mentions that Claire shouldn’t let Audra get under her skin.
Claire says it’s tough, and she was having a good time until Audra showed up!
Holden says they shouldn’t let Audra ruin their evening.
Nate tells Audra he wants to say hello to Claire… He bonded with her earlier!
Audra isn’t completely happy about it, but agrees. They go over to the table, and Nate says hello and asks how Claire is holding up.
Claire says she’s okay… They’re both dealing with their own losses, and she gives her condolences about Damian. She says she’s decided not to give into grief and keep moving forward. She says you can’t give up in life, you have to fight back! She looks pointedly at Audra while she’s talking.
Daniel tells Nate he knows how devastating a loss like that can be… His heart goes out to him.
Nate thanks him and tells everyone to have a great evening. He and Audra leave the table and get their own. Nate leaves to get Audra a drink from the bar.
Tessa sees the looks between Claire and Audra and asks Claire what’s going on… Is there something she should know?
Claire lowers her voice and says she’s sick of Audra’s games. She stands up and walks over to the bar where Nate is ordering drinks. She apologizes to Nate for dropping this on him, but… He needs to know about Audra and what type of person she is.
Audra overhears Claire talking to Nate and quickly gets up to intervene.
Claire continues to tell Nate that Audra made a deal with Victor… Audra was to get funding for her company in exchange for getting Kyle to cheat on Claire!
Nate asks Audra if what Claire said is true.
Audra denies it and says Claire is lying… Kyle made it up and planted it in Claire’s head! Kyle was all over her in France, and Billy and Sally saw it!
Claire reminds her that Kyle was only there because he and Audra had a deal to sell Dumas (now Ashby) on their perfume.
Audra shrugs. That may be, but Kyle still rubbed sunscreen on her, and that was Kyle’s idea! She says that she rejected Kyle and his fragile little ego got hurt about it… That’s what this is all about!
Claire asks about the kiss between them… Right here in Genoa City!
Audra says Kyle just couldn’t let it go… He came onto her!
Nate asks why he’s just hearing about this now.
Audra tries to explain, saying that Kyle is confused about what happened.
Claire says she’s telling the truth. Victor was going to bankroll Vibrante based on Audra’s success at breaking up Claire and Kyle, and she failed… That’s why she’s no longer working with Victor! She tells Nate not to waste any more time on Audra… She doesn’t deserve him! Claire walks back to the table and thanks Holden for the drinks. She apologizes and says she has to leave. Holden follows her outside.
At the bar, Nate takes a drink and tells Audra he’s at a loss for words.
Audra says that Nate shouldn’t take Claire’s misinterpretation of the facts get to him.
Nate scoffs. “A misinterpretation?” He says that it’s been one of the worst days of his life… He just buried his brother, and Amy has basically given up her will to live because of this tragedy.
Audra says she’s sorry about his brother, and she’s sorry about Claire’s lies. She begs Nate to tell her that he believes her.
Nate says he’s emotionally drained and was looking forward to a quiet evening with the woman he… Nate almost says “loves”, but changes his mind. “Cares for.” What the hell does she expect him to say?
The Jazz Lounge
Chelsea wonders what Adam’s secret weapon is, but before he can answer, Billy and Sally walk into the lounge and walk up, saying hello.
Sally says she’s sorry to disturb them, but she had to tell them how disappointed she is with them. They stabbed Billy in the back on their way to exposing Cane Ashby as Dumas! She’s not surprised Adam would go that far, but she didn’t expect Chelsea to become Victor’s battering ram!
Adam says they only printed the truth… There’s nothing in that article they can deny! Maybe they missed some of Billy’s epic failures!
Billy tells Chelsea it’s not too late to redeem herself.
Adam scoffs and says Chelsea has nothing to redeem herself for.
Billy says she could do something positive and write an article about the opening of Abbott Communication and their fearless leader, Sally Spectra!
Chelsea thinks that’s exciting news and congratulates Sally.
Adam says it’s a surprisingly smart move on Billy’s part to let someone run the company who won’t drive it into the ground. He says Newman Media won’t publicize the launch of a competitor… Why would they do that?
Chelsea asks Billy where it leaves him if Sally is running Abbott Communications.
Adam laughs and says, “Hopelessly adrift.” Again!
Billy says he has exciting news of his own, and he’ll enlighten them soon through Abbott Communications, where all exclusive news will be coming from! Newman Media will be playing catch-up! He and Sally leave the table and take a seat across the lounge.
Adam thinks Billy is trying to save face by pretending he’s not down and out.
Chelsea’s not sure. She thinks Billy does have something going on. He’s not down, and he’s not out… He wouldn’t hand over the reins to the company he just created unless he has something big up his sleeve!
Society
Tessa and Daniel are talking by themselves.
Daniel wonders what just happened with Claire and Audra. Claire was laughing and having a good time until Audra showed up!
Tessa doesn’t know the story, but says she’s having a good time, too… And it’s thanks to Daniel! She takes his hand and smiles.
Daniel says he didn’t do anything special… The four of them hit it off because they all have great chemistry!
Tessa says that he’s being modest… After Mariah left, she needed a distraction to lift her spirits, and besides Aria, he’s the one bright spot in her life! She tells him she enjoys his company and feels like she can be happy again with him.
Daniel smiles and says he feels the same way about her.
Chancellor Park Overlook
Holden follows Claire into the park. He says he knows Audra and the kind of drama she can manufacture. He thought it was exciting seeing Claire stand up to her! He asks if she’d like to talk about it.
Claire says the whole thing is sick and twisted. Audra is trying to gaslight her that Kyle is pursuing her! She tells Holden that Victor was going to fund Vibrante if Audra broke up Kyle and herself.
Holden nods. That’s on-brand for Audra, who wouldn’t turn down an opportunity like that!
Claire doesn’t think Audra has any integrity.
Holden has to ask… What are the chances that Audra isn’t lying about what happened between her and Kyle in Nice? He apologizes for overstepping, but he has history with Audra, and he knows how easy it is to get sucked into her so-called charms.
Claire asks what he means by “so-called.”
Holden says Audra got to him and he had a hard time getting her out of his system. He figures Kyle must be stronger than he was back then, and Kyle “won the lottery” by getting together with Claire, so there’s no way Audra would be able to get in his head.
Claire would love to believe that. She says she loves Kyle, but she does still have doubts, and hates that she does.
Society
Audra is incredulous that Nate doesn’t believe her… Surely he believes Audra over Claire! She says she had a tough day, too! Amy’s sobbing at the funeral was hard to see, and Nate and Amy are like family to Audra!
Nate says he can’t figure out why Kyle and Claire would have lied to him. Audra left Vibrante suddenly when she got back from Nice (France)… What Claire is saying seems to hold water!
Nate tells Audra that Claire doesn’t strike him as a liar.
Audra tries to convince Nate that Kyle is trying to cover his tracks with Claire. She’s sure Claire does believe Kyle’s lies.
Nate asks if she thinks Claire is that gullible.
Audra thinks she is… Claire just lost her father and is vulnerable. Kyle is acting out because she rejected him! Victor was right about Kyle the whole time… Kyle will break Claire’s heart; he just can’t help himself!
Nate looks at her curiously and asks how she knows what Victor is thinking… She wouldn’t know unless she was working with him!
