Talent definitely runs in the Morrow family as Young and Restless star Joshua Morrow is happy to express his pride in his son, Crew, who is currently playing Will Spencer on sister soap Bold and Beautiful. “I always swore I’d never watch soap operas,” the dad tells Soap Opera Digest, “but I watch my son when I’m at work. My TV is always on their feed. I put it on and I watch everything I can. I’ve recorded his show so I can watch him. I couldn’t be prouder of him.”
Chip Off the Old Block
Crew took over the role of Will Spencer on B&B in August 2024 at the same age that his dad was when he debuted as Nicholas Newman on Y&R back in 1994. However, while the younger actor is following in his father’s footsteps, the elder Morrow insists that his boy is very independent. “He’s his own man, and he actually wants very little to do with what I say,” he allows, “but it’s just sort of the way he was brought into this earth, man. He’s always had a very, very strong purpose to himself.”
Morrow has also been impressed watching his son grow and develop his skills and talents as he continues to work at B&B, sharing: “I think he’s getting better when I watch him. He’s picking up the nuance that it sort of takes to become a soap actor and play someone like Will, which is exactly the person I played when I started. So really, really, really proud of him. I know the show likes him, and they should.
“The kid works very hard, man,” Morrow continues. “I see him studying at home and breaking down the script. I mean, he’s got pages everywhere, and I’m just proud of him, man. He’s got a big future ahead of him. I love him so much.”
Independence Day
Although they star on different soaps, Morrow took advantage of his son working in the same studio complex… that is, until B&B recently relocated to Sunset Las Palmas Studio. “They just moved their studio and man, I’m heartbroken by it,” he declares. “I absolutely loved seeing him in the hallway and grabbing lunch, and nothing made me feel better as a father to be able to do that. And then I blink and they’re gone.”
Still, Morrow knows that he and his wife, Tobe, raised a good kid, and Crew will be just fine. “He’s a very independent dude by nature, now,” he explains. “When he first started, he definitely came to me with several questions regarding structure and how we do what we do. He was very open and took everything I said, but as he went on — which is exactly what I predicted — he has very strong feelings about how he does his own job.
“I, obviously, as his father, will always be there for him,” Morrow adds. “But I know the times when he needs something from me, and it’s not very often. He’s very put together, very driven, very ambitious. He’s got his mother’s strong-mindedness and strong will. Sky’s the limit for this kid.”
